I once posted a quote on Instagram that said " If your feed doesn't inspire you then you are following the wrong people" and I truly believe that. Instagram for me has definitely been the main source of new connections and friendships with so many people around the world. One in particular has contributed so much to EDGExEDGE and she didn’t even know that she was doing it.
World meet Asta Nowarra known on Instagram as @RolyPolywardrobe. She is the founder of the plus size fashion blog www.rolypolywardrobe.com. Asta is from Berlin where she works as a fashion design assistant. I'm inspired by her feed because she is curvy and stylish and unapologetically great! Her taste in fashion is amazing and extremely diverse! Her eye for textures while layering clothing is sick and don’t get me started on those locs of hers! Our online support group (lol) and hopefully a new friendship all began when I asked her what type of camera she used to take her amazing outfit pictures praying that it wasn't some $700 fancy camera, she replied that she uses her iPhone with a self-timer and tripod. Shortly after that she further researched the type of tripod that was compatible with the phone and direct messaged me the information. I couldn't believe it. For one its damn near impossible to get a reply from people on Instagram some times because everyone is busy trying to build a brand (I totally understand.) So when I ask questions I don’t expect to get a response. So when she DM’d (you know what I mean) me all the information I was especially grateful. Going through her feed knowing she used her phone and made it look incredible proved to me that I could actually pull this off with the resources I had available to me.
Shortly after that chit chat. I always looked to her for inspiration in general. We didn't talk much outside of leaving endless compliments under each others photos but whenever I posted clips and photos regarding EDGExEDGE I always saw her face in my notifications. She was like a little drop of sunshine on a cloudy day. I knew that even if no one liked a picture or supported me that she would and those little pieces of love and positivity sometimes is what kept me going. I know to a lot of people that is so fucking corny. Hell! I think it’s corny now that I’m actually saying it all out loud but its honesty. Asta I just want to thank you SO MUCH for the constant support and encouragement throughout this whole process. I’m sure you are totally in shock with all of this (because I lied and said that I needed a picture to feature you as my Insta follwer of the month just to make sure you okay with posting your photos on my site but what you didnt know was you were getting a whole write up lol) SURPRISE lol but you seriously played a huge role in everything coming together. The support that I received from everyone was to blame for those random ass post at 4am of me typing because at 4am working was the last thing I wanted to do so naturally I began to question was this going to be worth it. But then I would get a like on IG then 30 more likes and not only did that shit wake me up literally but It gave me that extra push. That tiny act of support showed me that at least 30 people from around the world thought that it was worth it.
Asta Nowarra you were one of the 30 and I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!
